#133 – Laser Light Show & Concert
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

What do you have planned for the 4th of July in Sedona? Well, as you should know, with all the fire danger in Arizona, fireworks have become almost obsolete. So, the city of Sedona has come up with another show to keep it’s residents satisfied on the 4th of July!

Diamond Resorts, along with the city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department, have put together an entire evening for the residents of Sedona. It will be an event for the whole family, people of all ages will love this show. Beginning at 6:30pm at Sedona Red Rock High School, there will be vendors serving food. These include some of Sedona’s favorite restaurants like Zainey’s Yogurt, Red Rock BBQ, Thai Palace Uptown, and of course, the Sedona Fudge Co. These vendors will be open on the baseball field until 8:30pm, throughout the entire concert performed by David Parker and the Big Time Band. This will be a evening you don’t want to miss, especially because it’s free!

After the concert is finished and everyone is fed, the real fun begins. There will be a Laser Light Show. This is a choreographed laser light show that lasts about an hour. To bring in the theme of independence day, the light show will be choreographed to patriotic music. This is the second annual event and we heard it will be “way better than last year”. The lights will start up at 8:45pm, don’t be late!

After doing the event last year, the City of Sedona and Diamond Resort has made some changes to improve the evening. These changes include more vendors for food, more lights in the laser show, also choreographed to patriotic music, which was not part of last year. There are also more restrooms located down by the baseball field and extra parking at the Cultural Park Place across the highway from the high school.

#132 – 50’s & 60’s Graffiti Gold Show
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

The younger generation in Sedona often feel as though there is not much entertainment or things to do that enthuse young adults. We’ve got news for you! A new Rock & Roll group moved into town to show off their talents to the people of Sedona!

The previous IMAX theater in the Village of Oak Creek, has been renovated as many things throughout the years. This last year, 2012, it was shut down and used as a place for bands to rent and practice their music in privacy of the sound-proof walls. With the new year of 2013 and new owners, the building has been transformed into the place into something that has brought a new “twist” to Sedona.

A group from Branson, Missouri began putting on a show called the “50’s & 60’s Graffiti Gold Show” every night at 7:30pm FREE of charge as of right now! Usually the show costs anywhere between $20-$55 but for limited time, it is free of charge. The show is filled with good ol’ rock and roll music. The main highlight of the show is the actress that got her trained in Vegas and brings Vegas Show quality to a Sedona stage. Throughout the show she constantly changes outfits and shows off her dancing and trapeze skills.

Living in Sedona, we never know what to expect next. As a retirement community this new show got Sedona Residents out of their seats dancing to the famous hits of the 50s & 60s! The show features classic artists like Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, The Big Bopper, Little Richard, The Coasters and many many more! We love the show because it demonstrates people living out their natural talents while bringing life to the community of Sedona!

If you are interested in going to a show at the Canyon Moon Theatre, call 928-282-5145 for ticket times and prices! #131 –Supermoon Over the Red Rocks
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

Sedona is known as one of the most beautiful places in the world! Our town has some pretty spectacular features, such as: the amazing red rocks, various vortexes, Oak Creek Canyon, creeks and views that are to die for. But one thing that is coming up this weekend, which is why we love living in Sedona, is the spring Supermoon of 2013! Living in Sedona during the Supermoon makes our home even more special than usual because seeing the Sedona Red Rocks underneath the light of a full moon is a once in a lifetime, awe-inspiring sight.Moon over Sedona Red Rocks

The Supermoon happens approx. once a year. When a full moon comes even closer to the Earth than usual, about three miles, it has a huge affect! This won’t happen again until August 2014, therefore you don’t want to miss experiencing Sedona underneath this year’s Supermoon! The term “supermoon” started about two years ago, when the moon was closer to Earth than usual.

In Sedona, we often see “night photographers” taking in the magnificent views under the light of the moon. They strive to get the shadow of the mountains while also capturing the glow of the red rocks, and reflections in the nearby creeks.

If you are an artist by hobby or trade and are interested in capturing these types of photos, this weekend is the perfect opportunity for it! If you aren’t able to make it to Sedona by this weekend to experience the Supermoon, consider moving here by August 2014, when the next one is predicted to be.

#130 – Sedona AZ’s Proximity to Jerome
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

A part of Sedona that all of the residents here love is the scenery. Sedona is a place that draws people in by the unique characteristics such as Red Rocks, Oak Creek and the various vortexes. One thing that we really love about living in Sedona is our town’s uniqueness compared to the surrounding towns. If we want a change of scenery for a special occasion, it doesn’t take long to get out of town and find the perfect spot!

Jerome is another tourist town in Arizona, only 40 minutes from Sedona. Jerome’s unique atmosphere attracts Sedona residents who love to walk through the shops and restaurants! Jerome is known as a “ghost town”, the location of an old insane asylum that served the Sedona-Verde Valley area. This makes Jerome especially fun at Halloween time!

Jerome’s rustic, old-fashion look provides the perfect spot for photography opportunities or just a day walking through the old boutique shops. We love spending time in Jerome! Photography is one of the main ways Jerome attracts people from Sedona. Red Rock High School photography students usually take trips to Jerome to capture photos with a different abstract look behind them.

A note for the chocolate lover – the fudge factory is one of our favorite parts of the town. The homemade fudge is “to die for”. No matter what draws you into Jerome, our advice is to stop at the fudge factory to pick up a snack for the way home!

Sedona’s proximity to Jerome is our #130 Reason to live in Sedona. Do you want to live close enough to visit Jerome frequently without having to live in the “vertical” city? Visit our website to find property in Sedona so that you can go to Jerome anytime! Feel free to email us or call us at 928-282-4166 x 253 if you have any questions while viewing the website or if you would like more information about Sedona! We look forward to hearing from you!

#129 – Every 15 Minutes
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

One thing that we love about Sedona is its sense of community. There are so many events that Sedona hosts to make Sedona feel like home. As older Sedona Residents, we always try to reach out to the younger generation. One of the big events that the Sedona Fire Department puts on for our youth at Sedona Red Rock High School is Every 15 Minutes.

Every 15 Minutes in a program to raise awareness about driving under the influence, with a focus on the influence of alcohol. The issue across America is that every 15 minutes, someone somewhere in the United States is killed in a car accident related to drinking and driving. The Sedona Fire Department, as stated in the press release, “offers real-life experience without the real-life risks” by creating a mock auto accident in the middle of the football field at Red Rock High School.

They involve students to play roles in the crash, and at the end of the afternoon two students are announced “dead”. The student that was “driving” was taken to jail for the afternoon. All along the way, the students are followed and taped on video to record their reactions to the accident. Even though students know that this is a fake accident, the pretend death of their peers bring to life this issue across America with drinking and driving.

The program was April 18th and 19th, 2013. The first day, the crash happened. Prior to the students being shown the head-on crash on the field, they were shown a video of their peers. One group of students were on their way to a movie, while the others were on a beer run during a party. Then, two students were announced dead at the car crash scene. After the students were shook up from the shock of the first day, the Fire Department hosted a court arraignment where the “drunk driver” was sentenced to years in jail along with several fines. After this, two funerals were held for the students that passed away. In the meantime, students involved in the program wrote letters to their parents that began with “Dear Mom and Dad, every fifteen minutes someone in the United States dies from an alcohol related traffic collision, and today I died. I never had the chance to tell you…….”. At this point, the “dead” students got to stand behind a sheet and read their letter to their family, bringing the situation more to life.

Another part in the program is were real victims of drinking and driving accidents share their story. This year, Kelly Taylor shared his story about being paralyzed at the age of 27, 16 years ago, because he drank and drove. This showed the students a lot of the different angles in which driving under the influence can change your life forever. We feel strongly about supporting the Fire Department in this outreach to High School Juniors & Seniors.

This program is held every 2-3 years right before prom and graduation to help prevent students from drinking and driving and also to encourage good behavior. This program makes the youth change their mindset from feeling invincible to knowing that the risks they take can be life threatening. Sedona is known to host many events, such as Every 15 Minutes, to bring the community together and help encourage the youth to grow up to be the best person they can be.

#128 – Sedona Bluegrass Festival
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

If you love listening to live bluegrass music while being surrounded by red rocks, then Sedona was the place for you to be this last weekend! Sedona hosted the seventh annual Sedona Bluegrass Festival this weekend at Los Abrigados Resort and Spa. Not much can be better than sitting by the Oak Creek listening to a Bluegrass concert.

Sedona is known for the majestic beauty that the red rocks bring. But on a weekend like this, the entire atmosphere of Sedona changes. Everything just becomes more real, down to earth and peaceful. The annual Bluegrass Festival has been held at the bank of the Oak Creek, rain or shine! The festival this year had several guest performances starting at 12 o’clock noon and ending in the evening at 6:30pm, all being led by the head show of the David Grisman FolkJass Trio. They are said to be “bringing a fresh view of American Folk tunes and more”.

There were seven different groups playing at the festival total. Each of the shows were very unique. In the same way that every artist paints with their own style, each musician at the festival played songs and added their own very unique style to it. Some of the performers included Muskellunge, Sonoran Dogs, Titan Valley Warheads, Brunett Family Bluegrass, Pick and Hollor, and the Matt Flonner Trio. The entire weekend turned out perfect, maybe year #7 is the charm! Escaping the heat, in the shade under the trees by the creek-side was our favorite part!

The next Bluegrass concert in Sedona is not until November 10th. So if you missed out on this last one, don’t miss the next one!

Consider moving to Sedona to enjoy creek-side festivals at Tlaqupaque? #127 – Tuesday Morning
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

Like most people, we love shopping! Compared to larger cities, Sedona is a little limited on it’s shopping locations as far as department stores go. Even though Sedona’s location is just 45 minutes South of Flagstaff, an hour west of Prescott and only 2 hours north of Phoenix, Sedona Residents can feel secluded from commerce. Luckily, a Tuesday Morning opened in the fall of 2011 at the Oak Creek Factory Outlet Mall in the Village of Oak Creek!

Tuesday Morning is a nationwide chain that contains a little bit of everything, much like a Ross Dress for Less. Some of their specialties include items ranging from clothing to crafts, luggage to beauty products, as well as other treasures. Tuesday Morning was a welcomed addition to the town of Sedona due to their large variety of inventory. Before this, if residents of Sedona needed certain items, they would have had to drive to other towns or areas to find what they are looking for. Now, with a local Tuesday Morning, look no further than the VOC.

In the Village of Oak Creek, 8 miles outside of Sedona, there is an Outlet Mall with several different shops. This is where, in 2011, Tuesday Morning opened shop. Tuesday Morning has been a big success, not only providing services to locals and tourists but also by drawing in traffic to the Oak Creek Outlet Mall. The once, “fading” Outlet Mall has spruced up with several new stores.

We  love going to Tuesday Morning to pick up a quick birthday gift, or a new home decor item like a rug. If we need it, its there! A reason we love living in Sedona – Tuesday Morning!

Want to get out of the big city (like Phoenix) but don’t want to give up all your shopping options? Think about living in Sedona with a brand new Tuesday Morning! Another reason we love living in Sedona – the Sedona Trolley! The Sedona Trolley brings a small-town feeling to the Sedona community. It is a friendly service that takes the residents and the tourists around town on different tours to see Sedona and the famous red rock views first hand.

Currently prices are only $15 for adults and $12 for children. There are two different tours you can take. They both take approx. 55 minutes and depart from the Uptown Depot.

Tour A travels along the south end of Sedona. It shows the famous Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village and the Gallery District. However, the main highlight of this tour would have to be the stop at the Chapel of the Holy Cross. This is a famous place in Sedona. A Chapel is built into the red rocks with amazing views of Sedona. The Sedona Trolley stops here for 15-20 minutes to let passengers explore the Chapel of the Holy Cross. If you ever get a chance to view the Chapel, don’t miss out! It is a place that everyone should see no matter what your religious beliefs are! This tour departs every two hours, starting at 12noon.

#124 – Schnebly Hill Tour
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX SedonaSchnebly Hill Road

Schnebly Hill Road is a famous scenic drive in Sedona. The view from the top of the drive is a sight that no one would ever want to miss! One of our favorite tours around Sedona would have to be Schnebly Hill! This view is definitely a reason to live in Sedona. Take a moment and breathe it in!

Schnebly Hill, another route from Sedona to the neighboring town of Flagstaff, is a popular route for the Pink Jeep Tours to take. The Pink Jeep Tours take Sedona tourists on rides all around Sedona. They off-road through the red rocks and 4wheel in the areas that the majority of people would never dare to go. In the case of Schnebly Hill, the tracks left by these jeeps can be followed by other vehicles. This is what we follow when we want to take a little adventure into the wilderness!

Schnebly Hill Road is a prime location in Sedona. the views from the top of the hill are an expression of Sedona’s beauty. After the first big turn in the road, people like to stop to take photos of the view of Sedona, but the real prize is the view from the top! Don’t turn back early, it’s worth the wait! Just make sure to have a truck, jeep or 4wheeler to get yourself to the top of the rocky road. We feel its like seeing the Grand Canyon, it’s just something you have to do once in your life, you won’t regret it!

This trail is an access to Flagstaff; however, majority of the year it is closed due to unsafe driving availability. There is a gate at the top of the Sedona portion of the drive that gets locked whenever the road is closed. This happens in the winter and sometimes during Summer Monsoon Season.

The view from the top is unbelievable. On one side you are enclosed in a bowl of Red Rocks, and on the other side you are facing a wall of pine trees, showing that you are halfway between the two worlds. You are able to see the diversity of Flagstaff vs Sedona. This view really shows Sedona’s remarkable beauty that no other place has to offer!

Sedona is a very unique place, filled with red rocks, desert landscape and lush vegetation by the creek! No neighboring town has the same qualities of Sedona.  Want to live among the Red Rocks? Consider buying a home or property in Sedona. Visit our website to search Sedona Homes for Sale and property in the Verde Valley.
