#176 – Verde Valley High School
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

Sedona is known to be a city that believes in providing a good atmosphere for families to raise their children. Some families don’t always want to send their kids to public school, especially if they are wanting to continue on in the education to gain a difficult degree that will be even more beneficial in their future. Well, even though Sedona has a very good local high school, that is not always what people want. Sedona also offers another type of school- a local boarding school that is internationally recognized for it’s excellence!

Verde Valley High School (VVS) is a boarding school that serves the Sedona area for a high school education. VVS reaches students from all over the world. Their international/ foreign exchange program allows students from other countries to gain an education in America. This school also offers programs that allow students to be able to travel to other countries to do some of their studies. One big project that is done during their senior year is actually spending a certain amount of time in another country to gain the experience of being in other cultures.

VVS has services to help prepare students for higher education as well. As all schools try to prep students to move forward to college, VVS prepares their students in a way that others don’t always do. They have meetings specifically for college preparation. They also offer college courses right in their class rooms. They look over applications that students are sending out to colleges and they help steer their students to some of the best colleges around America.

VVS is location in the Village of Oak Creek, all the way down Verde Valley School Road. VVS offers dorm rooms for international and local students to live in. That cost is simply added on top of the tuition cost. For more information regarding VVS, visit their website.

If you are interested in sending your children to VVS, contact us about moving to Sedona. We are here to help you throughout your move! 365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

If you are looking for a rip-roaring good time you must know about Blazing M Ranch in Cottonwood, a very short drive from Sedona. The ranch has so many fun things to do and is an excellent choice for hosting large parties and events. Upon arrival you will feel hearkened back to the days of the Wild West…as you are met with Frontier Town Shops. These shops appear to be old-time shops but are actually stocked with the latest goods and fashions. The Blazing M is renowned for their mouth-watering cowboy style menu, featuring barbecue chicken, ribs, and a full plate of sides. Guests are served cowboy style once the dinner bell is rung. Then the fun just continues with award-winning music performances, cowboy humor and poetry. The saloon is an ever-popular watering hole as well.

Families make memories at the Blazing M Ranch, with the array of adventurous activities such as roping, pitching horseshoes and target shooting with a real Colt .45 six-shooter! Also entertaining are the tractor rides past vintage farm equipment and farm animals into the wild, wild west. The folks at the Blazing M Ranch are true philanthropists as well and are known for generously supporting local benefits and charities, such as a widely attended benefit for our 19 local firefighters who recently lost their lives in nearby Dewey/Chino Valley.

Local Sedona residents appreciate having such a fun destination so close by. We also enjoy taking out-of-towners for a good time. #173 – Son Silver West Gallery, Inc
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

One reason we love living in Sedona is the way our community draws people in. Did you know that Sedona has roughly 12,000 residents and attracts about 5 million people per year? We love browsing through local stores such as Son Silver West Gallery, Inc. and talking with people from across the globe!

Located on Hwy 179, the Son Silver West Gallery can be spotted by the giant chicken sitting out on the road. This statue is the landmark for this local shop. Locals may not know the name “Son Silver West Gallery” but we sure know the eclectic shop with authenic mexican furniture and decor as “the place with the big chicken”. The gallery is located halfway between what is known as West Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek.

We love stopping at this gallery, we could browse for hours! Our main focus though is shopping for out-of-town friends and family. The gallery is filled with western and traditional southwest art as well as authentic ad rustic mexican decor. There are also a numerous Sedona souvenirs, such as scorpion suckers, 10 foot tall chili pepper chains and all sorts of little cactus in pots, perfect for the home!

The Son Silver West Gallery is the place to go when you need to bring a little piece of Sedona somewhere else. If you want to see some of the interesting items visit the Son Silver West Gallery website for photos and more information. However, if you are in the Sedona area – browsing in person is a must!

Do you currently live in Sedona and are considering upgrading to a Sedona Home that better fits your rustic art from places like Son Silver West? Please use our Free Sedona MLS Search at your leisure. We provide tools on our website that help you locate the Sedona Property of your dreams!

#172 – A Place of Worship for Everyone
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

Are you someone that is very plugged into the place where you worship? Are you afraid of moving because you fear not being able to find another church that will coincide with your beliefs? Well, rest assured, Sedona is considered a spiritual hub where there is a place for everyone to connect with fellow believers and express themselves freely.

In Sedona, we are proud to say that we are confident you will be able to find other believers to join in worship, no matter what your belief. There are several Pentecostal churches in the area. There is Baptist, First Assembly of God, Nazarene, Wesleyan, Mormon, Lutheran and Catholic. We also have a Jewish Synagogue, places of worship for Buddhist and New Age believers.

Currently Sedona does not have an updated directory of all places of worship. We suggest searching “your religion + Sedona AZ” in Google and see what options come up. This is our opinion of the best way to find a place(s) of worship that you’d be interested in attending. Of course if you have questions, we’d be happy to give our best to assist.

Now that you know replacing your place of worship should not be a problem, lets start looking for Sedona Homes for sale! (Yes, we can’t help ourselves! We love Sedona Real Estate!) You can visit our website for lists of Sedona Homes for sale or vacant land for sale. If you have specific criteria you are looking for you can perform your own Free Sedona MLS Search. You can email or call us at our RE/MAX Sedona office (928-282-4166 x 253). We are here to help and look forward to hearing from you soon!

#171 – Pisa Lisa- Decadent Pizza
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

Any resident of Sedona, and visitor for that matter, knows about the fine dining experience created by owner/chef Lisa Dahl. Because Cucina Rustica or Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante Italiano are fine dining, we typically spend our special occasions at one of these restaurants. You can imagine Sedona residents’ joy when Lisa Dahl opened a more economical option to her savory dining. Pisa Lisa opened in 2013 serving decadent, authentic pizza, “primo!” salads, tapas, paninis and our favorite – galato!

With our RE/MAX Sedona office right across State Route 89A from Pisa Lisa we often indulge in lunch to go of a chicken casear salad and hummus with flatbread.

“A little guilty pleasure I’ll share with you is that when it is my turn to pick up lunch I go a few minutes early and watch the chefs prepare and the pizza cook in the wood burning oven.” – Kaitlynn

Another favorite, besides their pizza, is their gelato! Our favorite is banana – yes it sounds weird but it tastes like a banana split. Ok, we digress – visits PisaLisa.com for hours, menu, etc!

On a side note, Lisa Dahl is also the author of her own cookbook, that you are able to pick up at any of her three restaurants. This is titled “The Elixir of Life Cookbook”- the 2011 Gold Medal IPPY cookbook of the year! We have a copy of this and although we do not do it often, it is fun to try out a recipe.

Are you a foodie and Dahl fan that is considering a move to Sedona? Visit our website for more information regarding West Sedona Homes for sale or vacant land for sale. You can email and/or stop by the RE/MAX Sedona office at 2290 W State Route 89A with any questions or concerns about living in Sedona. We are here to assist you in any way possible!

#169 – JAVELINAS
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

“The first time I encountered one of these extremely unusual beasts, I thought I had just stepped into the scene in Princess Bride with the Rodents of Unusual Size inhabiting the Fire Swamp. I simply couldn’t believe what I was seeing…was it a wild boar? a pig? a rodent? a massive porcupine? or some really obscure hybrid?”

As funny as that sounds, we have heard that from several people! Growing up in the Flagstaff & Sedona area, we see lots of Javelinas.  The Javelinas which can be seen rather frequently in and around the Sedona area are from the peccary family, a group of hoofed mammals originating from South America. These strange-looking animals are really no threat to humans or other animals, just your flower garden!
Javelinas in Sedona - Seven Canyons Golf CourseThey tend to travel in herds and populate washes in the area. If you are looking for a home in the Sedona area, be prepared to encounter these lovelies. They are interesting and curious to observe and we feel just adds another dimension to our landscape. It is not uncommon to see them crossing the road, taking over the golf course, etc.

They have inspired local artists to create colorful representations which can be found at various locations throughout town, primarily in the uptown shopping and dining district. A fun game we give our visiting friends and family is to have a fun afternoon driving/walking through town trying to spot Javelinas, whether in art or real life. We’ll give you a hint, driving into Uptown Sedona you will see a hot pink javelina statue outside of Pink Jeeps on the right.

Also inspired by our native friends is a local vineyard and winery named Javelina Leap, which has a lovely tasting room on Page Springs Road. Be sure to watch our driving tour of Page Springs Scenery & Wineries.

Please come visit us in Sedona, we are happy to show you around and point out any Javelinas along the way! Contact us via email or phone at 928-282-4166 with any questions or utilize our website’s Sedona Information. We are here to help in all areas of your relocation to Sedona.
