#139 – Back to School with Old Town Mission
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

We love the feeling of community that Sedona brings to its residents. Sedona is all about finding ways to help those in need. One big focus that Sedona has is helping children in need, from providing after school activities to feeding the hungry. The Old Town Mission has become a very popular organization throughout Sedona and the Verde Valley, helping the homeless and families hurting throughout our community.

Right now, the Old Town Mission is doing an event to help send children to school with all Picture3-300x243the supplies they need. You might think that sending your child to a public school is no big deal. All you need to do is drop them off, or put them on the bus, with some lunch money and a backpack full of school supplies. But many kids show up each year with no supplies. We understand that these are expensive and that many families can’t afford them, that’s why it is on our hearts to help The Old Town Mission give kids school supplies this year.

So, we urge you to join the fundraiser. The Old Town Mission is bringing together the community by putting together backpacks for children attending school this fall. On August 3rd, Old Town Mission, that is located in Cottonwood, will be giving out backpacks for kids of all ages that need a backpack for school. Not only that, but when you receive your bag, it will come fully loaded with everything the kids will need for school. Pens, pencils, scissors, markers, notebooks, and many more things will be stuffed inside of these bags for the children and youth to take with them.

The hardest part is to get enough generous people to donate bags for these kids in need. If you are able to donate some supplies, backpacks, or a few filled backpacks, please bring them to the Old Town Mission Monday through Friday from 9-4. Without the people in the Verde Valley contributing items for the children, this outreach would not be able to happen.

That is why we love living in Sedona. People are always feeling as though they are able enough to give to those that are not doing well. Helping others is one focus that the Verde Valley has never failed in doing.

If you are able to contribute to the Old Town Mission, or are in need of receiving a backpack for your child, contact the Old Town Mission’s website for more information. If you are interested in living in a community that is always watching out for each other, then contact us! Visit our website, http://SedonaProperty.net, to find homes for sale in Sedona. #116 – Sedona Cares Fire Fundraiser
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Approximately a month ago, May 25th, three families in the Village of Oak Creek (Sedona, AZ) lost their homes to a devastating fire. Most of the damage occurred when a propane tank exploded and flames almost immediately spread to the surrounding homes. The local fire department responded quickly, but unfortunately they weren’t able to save any of the homes.

The families lost virtually everything, even their pets. The silver lining to the story is the community’s willingness to step up and help in a time of need. Over the next few weeks, volunteers and generous people donated time, goods and money to help the families start to rebuild. One of the culminating events took place on June 19th — Sedona Cares Fire Fundraiser.

We were fortunate enough to attend this wonderful event. After a long day of fund raising at the Factory Outlets in the VOC, a primetime performance was held in the Canyon Moon Theater. Many of the local, and extremely talented, musicians and performers took the stage to help the families raise money and to help take their minds off of their recovery efforts for at least one evening.

Living in Sedona for many years, we still seem to be amazed when the community bands together to help others in need. Whether it was Believe in Ashley or any of the other numerous supporting events, Sedona seems to come together to help their own. Of all the reasons we have listed to live in Sedona so far, the strong sense of compassion and cohesiveness make this area more livable than any of the spectacular vistas and other attractions. We are proud to be Sedona residents!

If you are living in a town or an area where you feel you are just another number, maybe it’s time to consider moving to the Community of Sedona, AZ. Give us a call at 928.821.3508 or at our office at 928.282.4166 ext. 253. or send us an email. We would love to tell you about Sedona and help you become apart of this great place. #114 – Sedona Cinco de Mayo Festival
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Rob & Pam Schabatka – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

Vibrant. Charming. Rich with heritage.

Sedona did what it does best this weekend with the Cinco de Mayo Festival at Tlaquepaque Arts & Craft Village! Festivities were none less than astounding. Like all things in Sedona, the Cinco de Mayo Festival 2012 was full of elegance, flavorful cuisine & outstanding entertainment and art shows.

The festivities began on Friday, May 4th, 2012 with Sedona’s monthly First Friday Art Walks. On Saturday morning at 11am, Tlaquepaque was taken over by Mariachi’s who walked the pebble streets of the Village while playing in Calle Independencia. Throughout the day there were various live performances with Mexican influence such as Folklorico Dancers.

This free Sedona event was kid friendly with face painting, Pinata hitting & much more! All in all we recommend for you to plan your Sedona Vacation for next May and don’t miss the Sedona AZ Cinco De Mayo Festival!

#113 – Sedona Golf Clinics Only $10
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Rob & Pam Schabatka – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

Golf in Sedona… worth every penny! Sedona residents sometimes forget to realize just how good we have it here. Living in such a beautiful place with incredible community amenities, the golf courses in Sedona are first class. One treasure that we recently found is a golf clinic offered by the Oak Creek Country Club (OCCC).

OCCC is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. & Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed course located in the Village of Oak Creek (VOC). “Being Sedona’s first golf course, this championship, 18 hole golf course is truly unique when compared to Sedona’s other courses” (Sedona Golf Course Reviews). Playing on these greens currently costs $99 for 18-holes or $65 for 9-holes. But now you can get some practice & some guidance without breaking your bank.

$10 gets you 60 minutes of instruction on Monday, Wednesday and/or Thursday mornings to work on your swing in a small group setting. Even though you won’t be playing 18-holes you still get the experience of playing golf in beautiful Sedona AZ!

The price is reason enough to try one of these lessons. A drop in rate of $10 is hard to beat. Some of the instructors offer 6 lesson packages for $50 or $300 for an unlimited year’s pass. That is a great value for someone like us that needs a lot of practice. For a printable list of times and topics, click here for Oak Creek Country Club’s 2012 Golf Clinic Schedule. This Sedona Golf Deal is simply unmatched!

While you are enjoying the warmth of the sun, the wind in your hair and the gorgeous views of Sedona Red Rocks, imagine living within walking distance to Oak Creek Country Club or another Sedona Golf Course. Click here to browse Village of Oak Creek Homes for Sale near OCCC or Sedona Golf Resort.

#108 – Spring Break Snowfall – Sedona AZ
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona

Greetings from Rob & Pam Schabatka – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona

We are much better at predicting the Sedona Real Estate Market than the weather – as those of you who receive our monthly newsletter have seen. Filmed one week prior, our Sedona Market Update Video boasts about an active market due to the gorgeous weather & blue skies. Just days after filming, Sedona is currently in the midst of a cold front and the heaviest snowfall of the year.

In the video (http://youtu.be/83FxnHRs2hg) we showcase one of our Sedona Properties for Sale, specifically a tree in full bloom. You can see the tree as it stands today, bearing several inches of snow.

Today’s reason to live in Sedona is the typical Spring Snowfall. You can almost be certain that within weeks of Easter there will be a final illustration of winter. Usual snowfalls will sprinkle Sedona’s Red Rocks in the late afternoon and as soon as the sun appears the next day the snow will have disappeared. Heavy storms on average last less than a week. As for Spring Break – March 2012, we have our coats & boots on and hot chocolate in hand as we are enjoying the incredible scenery.

Many Sedona residents, including us, love living in Sedona because of the ‘perfect’ weather we get to take advantage of. Our 300+ days of sunshine allow locals & visitors to hike the Red Rocks, bike through Sedona trails and live surrounded by nature year round.
