#3 – Slide Rock State Park
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona AZ
August 26, 2011 12:00 pm
Greetings from Rob & Pam Schabatka – Broker/Owners of RE/MAX Sedona…
Formed naturally in Sedona’s Red Rocks, the snow melt creating the Oak Creek flows South of Flagstaff into the ideal natural waterslide known as Slide Rock State Park. Popular to both tourists and locals, Slide Rock has both historical and outdoor attractions.
As you pass by the historic rustic cabins and old world irrigation machinery, don’t forget to try one of the Apple Orchard’s juicy apples. After you peruse the original homestead, walk down the path to Red Rock Heaven. You can enjoy dipping in one of the many swimming holes, sunbathing on the red rocks, hiking one of the trails up into the rocks, or be adventurous and take a ride down the slide!
How to Get There
Head north on State Route 89A past Uptown Sedona. You will head into the bottom of Oak Creek Canyon. Travel approximately 6 miles up the winding road until you see the Ranger station on your left hand side. Find a parking spot and get ready for some fun.
How Much It Costs
Summer hours (until September 5th) are 8am-7pm and the entry fee is $20 per vehicle of 4 adults and an additional $3 per extra adult. Be sure to visit http://www.pr.state.az.us/parks/SLRO/index.html for park information, water quality and a video showing Slide Rock’s unique features!
One reason we love Slide Rock so much is its location in Oak Creek Canyon. The area is within a short driving distance to Sedona’s conveniences, but secluded enough from its pace. It seems during the summer, the temperature is quite a bit cooler and the proximity to the creek is ideal. With houses along State Route 89A, we absolutely see the value in canyon living. If this area interests you as much as it does us, click here to review a list of Oak Creek Canyon Real Estate or visit our Sedona AZ Real Estate Website with general real estate questions or contact us at 928-821-3508 or 928-282-4166 with questions about buying any homes for sale in Sedona AZ.
Enjoy your experience and don’t forget your towel!
