#178 – Echo Canyon Vineyard and Winery
365 Reasons to Live in Sedona
September 28, 2015 5:00 pm
Greetings from Sedona Property Partners – Broker/Owners of REMAX Sedona
Sedona boasts the rare distinction of being home to Northern Arizona’s first vintner, Jon Marcus. Jon began his wine-making adventure in 1993, tackling land that presented formidable challenges, but has proven to be an outstanding grape-growing region. Some of the other winemakers have followed suit, including Page Springs winemaker Eric Glomski, who was taught and trained by Jon himself. In recent years Jon was out of commission due to health issues, but he is back in the wine-making business in collaboration with Jerome’s newest tasting room owner Jason, of Passion Cellars.
Many people love living in Sedona because there are always exciting developments in the wine world in the Sedona/Page Springs area. Among the latest are the bottling parties hosted by Echo Canyon Vineyard/Passion Cellars. Of the 36 barrels of wine that has been aging and improving since 2003-05 only 22 remain.
Jon and Jason are preparing to open Echo Canyon’s doors for old-fashioned barreling parties which only a few fortunate oeniphiles will enjoy. Guests will be shuttled down the stunning canyon road and fed tasty gourmet appetizers while being taught to siphon and bottle their own wine… the last of a very special batch….Just another reason to live in gorgeous red rock country!
